Professor and Head of Dept of Oral Medicine and Radiology and Special Care Dentistry, Saveetha Dental College and Hospital, Chennai, India Dr Arvind Muthukrishnan is Professor and Head of Department Of Oral Medicine and Radiology and Special Care Dentistry at Saveetha Dental College and Hospital, Chennai. He completed his training in Oral Medicine and Radiology in 2003. He subsequently gained his Diploma in Oral Medicine from European Association of Oral Medicine in 2012, MFDS from Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in 2013, FDSRCS in Oral Medicine from Royal College Of Surgeons of Ireland in 2014 and Academic Fellowship in Oral Medicine from American Academy Of Oral Medicine in 2017. He was awarded the PhD for his research work in oral cancer in 2023. He received advanced training in oral medicine from Eastman Dental Institute – London and Penn Dental school at University of Pennsylvania. He further undertook training in Special care dentistry at Morriston Hospital – Swansea, United Kingdom. He also undertook training at Oral Medicine Unit at Brigham Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute - Harvard, Boston in 2023. He had the distinction of representing India as an assistant reviewer in WWOM - V held in 2010 at London and again as a reviewer in WWOM -VI held in 2014 at Florida. He is the recipient of 2021 T C White travel grant award of 2000 pounds awarded by Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He has been awarded the prestigious 2021 Ben Walton Research Grant award for oral cancer research of 3000 pounds by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He has guided 5 doctoral thesis and contributed 130 scientific articles in medical and dental literature till date. He sits on the editorial board of various national and international journals. He is also an examiner for Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and Royal College of Surgeons Of Ireland. He has lectured extensively globally on wide range of topics on clinical oral medicine and radiology practice. His special area of interest in clinical teaching and research includes dental care of special needs patients and medical management of immunobullous lesions.
